Nothing new these days except that he's acting almost normal around his mom. But he has not said more than 5 words to me. Which is the only thing saving his life right now.
His mom told him he had to start looking for a job. yeah right. Like THAT's going to happen anytime soon. *rolling eyes* I asked her last night if the little sickie has made and kept another appointment with a REAL psychiatrist. NOT a social worker, not a fictional "specialist" of his mind's choice. We are slipping on our line in the sand here with regards to he HAS to do the things that we said or get out. Currently he should be OUT.

County's Advice
I had called the fellow that does admissions into the county's mental health system and had a lengthy conversation with him about the stepson. His advice? Continue to OTA the boy until either the county takes more of an interest or until the stepson realizes that we are not going to give up until he does the right thing.
This road just got a whole lot rockier.
*double sigh*

Med-less in Georgia
Well, just as I knew would happen, the stepson took the medicine that was given to him by the hospital. That lasted five days. During that five days, he was actually beginning to act normal. Doing stuff like actually coming out of his room to eat supper, talking to his mom while I wasn't there, etc. BUT, he only had enough medicine for five days. Now it's all gone and it has cleared his system.
So, we are now back to dealing with the crap again. For example, last night, he showed up in the livingroom and asked how he could turn off the privacy stuff on our phone line because it was blocking him from being able to call his "friend". He had attitude written all over his face like he was pissed off at me for blocking his friend. So, I told him that I could NOT block outgoing calls using privacy director and that if he is hearing that message when he attempted to call his "friend" then it was because that person blocked HIM. He didn't believe me of course.
Last night I had to work on a server at midnight. Everyone was in bed and suddenly there was a knock at the door. I got up and answered. It was a cop. He asked if everything was alright. Since this is NOT the first time that my stepson has done this, I stepped out onto the porch and explained the cop that my stepson had been diagnosed with Schizophrenia and he was off of his meds. I told him about the heated conversation about the phone line earlier in the evening and I told him what happens when he gets upset about crap like that.
The cop attempted to talk with the stepson. The stepson would not come out of his room. I'm sure that he was hiding under his bed, shaking like a leaf.
Today, I took the DSL router with me to work. My wife is forwarding our home phone to her cell phone and then she is going to take every single phone from the house so that calling out from the house is not possible. And I'm calling the county to see if he actually had an appointment yesterday. (*doubt it*) If he didn't, then I think we are through here.

Schizophrenia Confirmed
Been awhile since I posted...
As it turned out, we finally convinced the step son to take the meds that they were offering him and to take the test. The test resulted in a confirmed diagnosis of Paranoid/Delsional Schizophrenia for my stepson.
Last Thursday they kicked him out. They told him that he had to make an appointment with the county's mental health system and see a psychiatrist. They were supposed to give him a one week perscription for the meds. They forgot. So, when my wife got him home there was a messaage waiting from the doc saying that she forgot to give him the meds. So, he went back the next day and picked them up.
SUPPOSEDLY, he called the number for the county and left a message. We dont' know yet whether he has heard back from them or not. However, they haven't called back by the middle of next week, we are dropping the ultimatum on him. It is this:
1) He MUST make and keep the appointment with the county psychiatrist.
2) He MUST take the meds they give him in the future.
If he does not do either of those two things, he has to leave our house until he does.
Oh yeah, so the meds helped him a LOT. He was/is starting to act a little more normal. Of course, he is now out of pills probably, so it'll be back.
Schizophrenia is not curable.
